How many times can my heart break
Disillusioned by the thought of flawless love?
When I was in P-Town, I met a wonderful man named Ryan. We were immediately smitten with each other, and been aggressively dating ever since. I have told only a few people, on the fear of jinxing it.
Too late.
Tonight, he set me on my way.
This is all I can think:

Today at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show, BMW introduced the X6. Officially it’s a “concept”, but very rarely are concept cars camaflouged for hot weather testing in Death Valley. They are gonna build this turd, probably in Spartansburg, SC.
Once again, BMW is befuddling me. This car… oh, sorry… this Sport Activity Coupe (which means that it really is a SAC of shit) is tall and heavy like an SUV, but has a raked roofline like a sports coupe. Hmmm… so BMW took the most impractical aspects of two completely different classes of car and melded them in into an SUV with no rear headroom, very little cargo capacity and lousy fuel economy. What’s not logical about that? Never mind the styling is somewhat lackluster, and in profile reminds more of a Subaru Legacy Sedan or Infiniti M than a BMW.
If BMW truly wanted to meld the best aspects of a sports coupe and SUV, why not create a low-slung, ass-haulin’ shooting brake?
Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi all seem to be in a rush be the first into new, yet-undiscovered car segments. My fear is in the rush to be all things to all people, they will spread themselves too thin, that they may put their future in jeopardy.

Volkswagen is moving its U.S. headquarters to DC.
This is not one of my lame jokes. Volkswagen is REALLY moving its U.S. headquarters to DC. Ok, they are actually moving to Herndon, and it’s not just limited to the Volkswagen, but also Audi. VW’s argument is that most of their customers are on the coasts, and not in middle America. (Duh.)
I actually think this great move. DC is geographically a small city with sprawling suburbs and exburbs, which means there are lots of people owning cars. Of those, most folks own either Asian or German. Let’s face it… there is a good chance that the car mowing you down in the crosswalk will be a Volkswagen or an Audi (or a BMW, Toyota or Honda). You don’t find many Malibus outside of the rental car lots at National Airport.
More importantly, the proximity to government would be beneficial for automakers to monitor, and provide guidance on regulations and new legislation. Considering the mood that Congress has been in lately… it would be VERY beneficial.
Now, the question is: Will other automakers follow suit? Auto manufacturing is no longer concentrated in Detroit. German, Korean and Japanese companies have never had manufacturing in Detroit. It only follows that most if not all automakers should have a substantial presence, if not be headquartered, in the DC area.
The bigger question is: Can an auto-obsessed homosexual find a little occupational car-love at VW in DC?
